Ever since I was a little boy I knew that I wanted to be a choral director.  From my early days in elementary school, on through my time travelling with the American Boychoir, and finally conducting the choirs at my high school, I knew that I wanted to work with ensembles for the rest of my life.

Currently, I am working in Durham, NC.  During the day, I teach music at The Franciscan School.  I use recorder and singing with Kodaly and Orff techniques to teach basic musicianship to elementary students in 3-5 grade.  With the middle school students (grades 6-8) I continue to teach singing while also focusing more on music history and music theory.

In the evening, I enjoy working with my two adult choirs, the Triad Pride Men’s Chorus and VocalMotion. Both enjoy singing (and dancing!) as much as I do and it is a real thrill to spend my free time having fun with these folks.

In my personal life, I enjoy a wide range of hobbies.  I really enjoy cooking and entertaining at my apartment in downtown Durham.  East Asian cuisine is my favorite.  I also enjoy staying active and enjoying the river during the summer months.  When I can find the time, I love to travel especially to exotic places.  I have been to Europe, Japan, and Peru.
